Sending feedback

  • Product
  • All four levels

Send feedback from Feedback at the foot of the sidebar, or from Report this on an error. Each report goes to the Sted team, who can reply by email, and your organisation’s administrators can read it too. Reports from an error carry its Reference, so the team can find what went wrong.

What this is

Feedback is the direct line from StedOS to the people who build it. Use it for a bug, for wording in a document or a screen that looks wrong, for a screen that is hard to use, or for something you wish Sted did.

The dialog tells you who will read your report before you send it: the Sted team and your organisation’s administrators. Administrators can read reports from your organisation but cannot edit or delete them.

Where to find it

Feedback sits at the foot of the sidebar, between Your Account and Logout. On a phone, open the Menu to reach it.

When something fails, the error message may carry a Report this control. It opens the same dialog.

How it works

Send feedback from the sidebar

  1. Select Feedback in the sidebar.
  2. Choose a category in Feedback relates to: Bug, Content, Feature request or User interface.
  3. Describe what happened, or what you would like, in the text box.
  4. Select Send feedback.

The text box is labelled What’s on your mind? and takes up to 4,000 characters. The dialog confirms the report has been sent.

Report an error

  1. Select Report this on the error.
  2. Check that Feedback relates to shows Bug.
  3. Describe what you were doing when the error appeared.
  4. Select Send feedback.

A report opened from an error starts on Bug and shows the error’s Reference as a read-only line under the text box, so it cannot be deleted by accident.

What a report carries

Each report records the page you were on, the version of the app, the size of your window and your browser, alongside the category and your words. A report from an error also carries its Reference. That is usually enough for the team to reproduce a problem without asking you for screenshots.

What makes a useful report

Say what you were trying to do, what you expected and what happened instead. For content, name the document and the section. For an idea, say what problem it would solve for you, not only the feature, because the problem is what the team can weigh against everything else.

How you hear back

The Sted team receives each report as it arrives. If they need to know more, a person on the team replies to you by email. That reply is not one of Sted’s automatic emails, which come from no-reply@sted.digital.

Everyone can send feedback. Your organisation’s administrators can read the reports it sends, and nobody in your organisation can change or delete one afterwards.

Limits and plan features

A report cannot be withdrawn from inside Sted; to have one erased, email support@sted.digital. Keep personal details about other people out of the text box, because administrators in your organisation can read it.

Frequently asked questions

Who reads the feedback I send from Sted?

The Sted team, and your organisation’s administrators. The dialog says both before you send. Administrators can read reports from your organisation but cannot change or delete them.

Will Sted reply to my feedback?

Yes, when the team needs to know more, by email to the address you sign in with. Not every report gets a reply, so a report that says what you expected and what happened is the one most likely to be fixed without a back-and-forth.

How do I report an error message I just saw?

Select Report this on the error itself. The feedback dialog opens on Bug with the error’s Reference already attached, so the team can find the exact request that failed without you copying anything.

Can I delete feedback I sent by mistake?

Not from inside Sted. Email support@sted.digital and ask for the report to be erased; nobody in your organisation can edit or delete a report once it is sent.
