Sign up and sign in
Select Get started on sted.digital and sign up with an email and password or a Google account. You’ll land in your own organisation on the Preview plan as its Administrator. Password accounts add a second step at sign-in: an authenticator app or an emailed six-digit code. Invited colleagues skip Get started and join with the code in their invitation email.
What this is
Signing up and signing in happen on Sted’s sign-in service at auth.sted.digital, not inside the app. You type your password there, and StedOS receives a signed-in session, never the password itself. A web application firewall sits in front of StedOS and limits how often anyone can send it requests, with a tighter limit on sign-in.
There are two ways in: an email address with a password, or a Google account. Apple and Microsoft sign-in are not available yet.
Each person can create one organisation of their own. Everyone else who works with you joins it by invitation, at the level an administrator chooses, as people, levels and invitations explains.
Where to find it
On sted.digital, Get started creates an account and Sign in opens the sign-in page for an existing one. Both lead to auth.sted.digital, then back into StedOS.
An invitation arrives by email. Its Open the invitation page button leads to Accept your invitation, where you paste the code.
The first time you reach StedOS, a card headed Before you continue asks you to accept the terms and privacy notice.
How it works
Create an account with an email and password
- Select Get started on sted.digital.
- Enter your email address and choose a password.
- Enter the six-digit code Sted emails you to confirm the address.
- Choose how to confirm future sign-ins: an authenticator app or an emailed code.
- Tick I accept the Terms of Service and the Privacy Notice.
- Select Continue.
Sted then creates your organisation on the Preview plan with you as its administrator and opens Home. Your first task, “Tell us about your organisation”, starts the onboarding conversation with Steward.
Sign up with Google
- Select Get started on sted.digital.
- Choose Google on the sign-in page and pick your Google account.
- Tick I accept the Terms of Service and the Privacy Notice.
- Select Continue.
There is no emailed code and no second step from Sted: Google’s own sign-in protects the account.
- Select Sign in on sted.digital.
- Enter your email and password, or choose Google.
- Enter the code from your authenticator app or your email.
The second step is asked at most once per 12-hour session.
Accept an invitation
- Open the invitation email.
- Copy the invitation code.
- Select Open the invitation page.
- Paste the code into Invitation code.
- Select Continue to sign in.
- Sign in with the address the invitation was sent to. If you are new to Sted, use the temporary password from the separate Your Sted sign-in email.
- If you are new to Sted, choose a new password and how to confirm future sign-ins: an authenticator app or an emailed code.
- If you are new to Sted, tick I accept the Terms of Service and the Privacy Notice and select Continue.
The code works only for that address and expires 72 hours after it is sent. You then join the inviting organisation rather than creating a new one.
Same email, different door
If your address is already registered with Sted under another sign-in method, for example a password rather than Google, Sted refuses the second way and asks you to sign in as you did before. The two are never linked.
Forgotten passwords
The forgotten-password link on the sign-in page emails you a six-digit reset code. If your second step is an emailed code, the sign-in service cannot send you a reset code, so Sted support resets the password for you.
Permissions
Everyone signs in the same way. Who can bring other people in depends on their level:
| Action | Administrator | Policy and Process Owner | Reviewer | Personnel |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sign in with a password or Google | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Accept the terms and privacy notice | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Invite someone by email | Yes | No | No | No |
| Revoke a pending invitation | Yes | No | No | No |
Plan and Users, where invitations are sent, appears in the sidebar for administrators only, so other levels never see the invite controls.
Limits and plan features
Every new organisation starts on the Preview plan, with one user. Just the Framework is single-user too. To invite colleagues you need Framework and Users (up to five users) or Full Management System (up to 15), as plans and billing sets out.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to use two-step verification on a password account?
Yes. The first time you sign in you choose an authenticator app or an emailed six-digit code, and Sted asks for it at most once every 12 hours after that. Google accounts skip this step because Google’s own sign-in protects them.
Can I sign in with Google if I signed up with a password?
No. An email address that already has a password account cannot also sign in through Google, because Sted does not link the two. Sign in the way you did when you created the account.
I’ve been invited. Should I use Get started?
No. With the invited address, Sted spots the waiting invitation and asks for its code anyway. With any other address, Get started creates a brand-new organisation, so you’d end up alone in an empty one instead of in your team’s. Open the invitation page from your email, paste the code and sign in with the address the invitation was sent to.
I chose emailed codes and forgot my password. What now?
Ask Sted support to reset it. The sign-in service cannot email a reset code to an account whose second step is an emailed code, so the forgotten-password link does not work for you. Accounts that use an authenticator app or Google are not affected.
